Calling all artists! Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital hosting contest

Bolingbrook – In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital is hosting its annual amateur Pink Art Contest. Contest entries must be submitted by Sept. 21 for judging.

Artwork will be displayed at the hospital during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One in eight women in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

Two-dimensional paintings, drawings or photography can be entered. All entries must relate to breast cancer awareness, education or experiences. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Professionals are welcome to display.

Artwork, with display hardware attached, must be dropped off at the information desk at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, 500 Remington Boulevard. The information desk is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please attach an entry form to each submission. For more information and to download an entry form, visit www.keepingyouwell.com/pinkart.

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the hospital’s annual tree lighting ceremony. At the ceremony, community members will be invited to write the names of loved ones and add them to a white tree on display in the lobby. The ceremony is open to the public.

“Breast cancer affects our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and ourselves,” said Jolene Albaugh, vice president/chief nursing officer of Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. “As a community, we need to stand together to fight this disease, not just during Breast Cancer Awareness Month but every day.”

My son is a fantastic artist. I think it is discriminatory that he cannot participate. He is 14.
