I wish their years of service would have been included. Some of these teachers listed above have been teaching 30+ years.

I agree Beth. In addition, the school subject/class they teach would also be beneficial.

I asked for that information for the district, but I was told it was not available.

That is correct. According the Champion.org, Elaine Meldrum is listed as teaching 37 years in the report for 2011. In the same report, Eva Conway is listed as teaching 42 years.Judy Williams as 34 years...All them are also listed as having a Master's Degree.

I didn't check the rest but I would bet that they are not first year teachers with a BA.

You are SO correct Beth. That list includes some people who retired last year and had worked over 30 years plus took as many classes as they could and got multiple degrees. Their years of service earned that salary.

Ditto
I spoke with a women from West Virginia over the weekend. She is new to Bolingbrook, 3 years now. The biggest shock she got when moving here was class size, not only are ours bigger, but we only have 1 teacher, in West Virginia they have 2 in each class. What does our District do with the money? I can't believe that teachers are paid so little in WVa or that their taxes are so much higher. Does make one wonder.

Its no wonder our taxes are so high. I know a lot of extremely smart and motivated teachers that would love a job for less than half of that salary.

In the spirit of full disclosure, why not include the Superintendents salary as well: Jim Mitchem, Gary Grizaffi, Larry Randa et al. They are all being paid an incredible amount of money with little to show for it. I don't think it's a district problem it's an Illinois problem. Why are administrators being paid so much money?

That money is better spent on the teachers, students, and the principals who manage the schools.

We posted the administrators' salaries and benefits last month. The link to that is in the article (under Read More).

Is this report for the 2012-2013 school year? If so, how can such a report be filed when the contract with the teachers has not been settled yet?

If it's for the 2011-2012 school year, David Hehl was not a teacher. He was at the Ad Center as a Director of Student Services. He is still not a teacher but a SRT Leader for Out of District Special Education Students.

Also, do these figures include stipends for clubs, sports...?

It's the 2012 report, which includes employees with the district for the 2011-2012 school year. David Hehl was listed as a teacher in this report.

I wonder why since he was the Executive Director of Student Services during that time period.

One of the other top listed "teachers" is listed as a teacher although the salary he is listed as receiving is based upon his previous stint in VVSD as an administrator. In other words, he was demoted from an admininstrator to a teacher and is still receiving his administrator pay

Melissa said that the report is based on 2011-2012 school year. If you're referring to Dr Hehl, he was an administrator during that time.

I know some of these teachers, they need to retire. with that kind of pay, our kids should be getting the best education out there. All they do is complain about teaching our dumb kids (a teacher said that to me once) and they get the summer off, and all the holidays and make mone like this? crazy

Very well paid and still Valley View graduates children who can't string two sentences together or dress properly for a job interview! Truly amazing!

Wow, really? My kids can string multiple sentences together, know how to dress properly for whatever the event, are well mannered and well behaved.

Didn't realize that these were the Teachers responsibilities. I thought the teachers were suppose to teach the subject and childrens PARENTS were suppose to teach the life skills.

Well, thanks to Mr White, the teachers at BHS can concentrate on teaching and he does the disciplining. Now some of the "other" kids whose parents don't teach them the life skills will learn how to act properly in school and in public.
