Winning Ingredients Chosen for Andy's Frozen Custard's New Traffic Jam Concrete

Last month, the community was asked to suggest ingredients for the new Good Day Chicago's Traffic Jam Concrete creation, named in traffic reporter Sondra Solarte’s honor.

After sifting through hundreds of responses from the community, Andy’s Frozen Custard has chosen the ingredients that will make up it’s newest concrete creation.

Created in honor of traffic reporter and Bolingbrook resident Sondra Solarte, the Good Day Chicago's Traffic Jam Concrete concoction includes vanilla frozen custard mixed with strawberries, caramel and Oreo cookies.

“Those were the three most popular ingredients requested so that’s what’s in the Traffic Jam,” said Donna Scherner, Andy's media relations representative.

An explanation accompanies each of the suggested ingredients.

“The strawberries stand for the brake lights we often see in the traffic we sit in,” Scherner said. “The Oreo represents the hundred miles of pavement we take along the roadway in traffic. And the caramel represents the sticky situation we often find ourselves in in Chicagoland traffic.”

Last month, Andy’s Frozen Custard announced the contest and asked community members to post suggestions on Andy's Frozen Custard Facebook page, or send a Tout.com response for the concrete that will be served in its Illinois shops.

The winning combination was announced during the Thursday, Feb. 9 during the Good Day Chicago broadcast.
