Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce CEO Resigns

Mike Evans will step down as CEO of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, effective Dec. 7.

The Board of Directors of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday that Michael Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, will step down as CEO, effective Dec. 7.

He will begin immediately thereafter as the President and CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. Current staff and the Chamber board chairman will oversee his duties during the interim of his absence and hiring process of a new CEO. A search committee is currently being formed and the process to find Evans' replacement will commence in December.

After five years of serving the Bolingbrook Chamber, Evans’ accomplishments include an Energy Co-op in 2011 saving members more than $400,000 annually and an International Travel Program that has given more than 100 local and regional residents an opportunity to travel to various destinations throughout the world.

Together with the board of directors, Evans launched a successful series of business development programs targeting key demographics in the region helping dozens of local businesses grow. Programs include Minority Business, Women in Business and Young Professionals.

“When I look at all the exciting things that are happening or are about to happen in our community and see the role of the Chamber in all of this, it is critical that we find an outstanding individual to follow Evans’ principals,” said Tom Castagnoli, chairman of Bolingbrook Chamber’s Board of Directors and general manager of The Promenade Bolingbrook, in the release.

“For the five years Evans has been an advocate for the economic growth in Bolingbrook and has cultivated vital relationships with key players, not just locally, but in the state as well as around the globe. His move to Naperville’s Chamber can only enhance his ability to be a positive influence in the region and build stronger relationships between neighboring businesses and communities."

“It has been a privilege to serve the Chamber as CEO, as well as the Bolingbrook community," Evans said in the release.

"I look forward to building business relationships throughout the region.  The members, staff, board and volunteers will always remain an important part of my personal and professional life. To truly succeed in this industry you have to remember that we serve our businesses and communities.  Chambers of Commerce will continue to play a defining role in the success of our economy in America."

Evans is a 30-year resident of Bolingbrook and prior to leading the Chamber, he worked for DuPage County and also for Mayor Roger Claar.    He has also participated and led numerous boards and committees for local charity groups. He serves on the Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation board and has served four years as an elected member of the Valley View School District.

Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and currently resides in Bolingbrook with his wife and daughter.
