Bolingbrook Man Accused of Shooting Teenager

Chicago Police announced first-degree murder charges Saturday against a Bolingbrook man. They say he's responsible for the death of an 18-year-old woman earlier this month.

Police say a Bolingbrook man is to blame for a recent shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Chicago woman.

Investigators list the address for Larry Luellen Jr. as being in the 400 block of Salem Square in Bolingbrook, though they've said he was most recently living in Chicago. The 34-year-old has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police.

They say Luellen shot a young woman while she was walking around 7 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood—specifically, the 1100 block of North Pulaski Avenue. The intended target was a rival gang member, police said.

Chicago officers and detectives said they, "tirelessly worked several leads" that ultimately brought them to a West Side apartment in the 4700 block of West Maypole Avenue. That's where they found Luellen, they said.

Police announced the charges on Saturday along with those from an unrelated double homicide that occured within the city limits. They said the police work exemplifies the professionalism Chicago's officers regularly exhibit.

“We want these cases to serve as a clear reminder to violent criminals that the Chicago Police and residents of this city will not tolerate brazen and senseless acts of violence,” the department's superintendent, Garry McCarthy, said in a written statement. “Our officers and detectives exhibited remarkable dedication and diligence in order to quickly solve these cases."
