Bolingbrook, Plainfield Relaunch Special Recreation Association
JBSRA will become the Lily Cache Special Recreation Association, starting Jan. 1, 2013.
For years, they’re been providing recreation opportunities for individuals with special needs — and that won’t change when the Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association (JBSRA) becomes the Lily Cache Special Recreation Association (LCSRA) next year.
Plainfield Park District Public Information Coordinator Marianne Ryan said the new name will become official on Jan. 1, 2013.
The change more accurately reflects the partnership between the Plainfield and Bolingbrook park districts as they work to provide special recreation, Ryan said.
“The Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association didn’t really clearly identify who was involved,” Ryan said. “The Plainfield Park District wasn’t represented in that name.”
The name change will come with a new look and new logo, Ryan said, and, potentially, a new website.
“The same excellent staff will be in place to deliver these programs,” Bolingbrook Park District Marketing and Communications Manager Dan Leahy said in a press release. “Beyond the excitement of a new look and name, Lily Cache Special Recreation Association is here to serve. LCSRA’s goal is clear; to provide personalized and compassionate care while giving participants opportunities to grow and build self-esteem.”
LCSRA serves individuals with disabilities which can include but are not limited to physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, communication disorders, emotional/behavior disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. Activities include social events, seasonal camps, trips and Special Olympic sports.
Ryan said a launch party for the new name is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 7. Participants and their families will be invited to the event; stay tuned to Patch for more details as they become available.
