Bolingbrook Police Investigating Death of BHS Student
Crisis Team has been activated at Bolingbrook High School.
Bolingbrook police continue to investigate the death of a Bolingbrook High School student from Tuesday night.
Little information is available; however, Larry Randa, spokesman for Valley View School District, confirmed the Crisis Team at the school is available to students.
Readers on the Bolingbrook Patch Facebook page confirmed a phone call message was received by parents regarding the death.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. I would have liked a bit more info from the school to know if I needed to call my son's counselor, but I respect the family's privacy and understand the school only gave us whatinformation they could.

why is there no update to this article. Who dies and how. Was it an accident? Did it happen within the school, outside the school? Those and many more questions you have left unanswered.

The reason that the school is not giving out too much information is simple. they do not want to sensationalize a child death. Imagine a child who is incredibly depressed, maybe bullied, no support system- I am sure there are plenty at BHS. Seeing that the death of a student gained incredible news and media attention might be enough to make that child consider becoming noticed by committing suicide. It is a fact that suicides tend to cluster. (I am unsure if this was a suicide, so please forgive me if it was not). One proven way to help emilinate copycat suicides is not to give too much attention to the initial victim. Sounds harsh- we all feel horrible when this happens. But it is understandable. My thoughts and prayers go out to the grieving family and friends. The rest is simply not our business.

People still wonder though. Children don't die for no reason. If there is something out there we should fear, I guess the police would tell us. I also don't know if she was ill, why that would be impossible to report on. Since the police are investigating, there are only 2 scenerios I can come up with and neither are good. I send my prayers and well wishes to the family. They must be devistated. So very sad.

I encourage those at Patch not to allow gossip about this private matter on here or the facebook page. Let's respect the privacy of the family. If you were close to the deceased, or if your child were close to her, or if your child were in danger, you would know what occured. .

Simply not our business? I've never seen so much bad publicity around one school. Every year the school leaves behind at least 1 or 2. are we not in touch with our kids? Are parents not paying enough attention? or do all just mind our own business Susan?

Sometimes I wonder why other posters are allowed to tell others what they can or cannot say. As long as we are all within the terms of service, we should be able to say something. I would never be rude or mean or judgemental but I also feel the right to express my opinions even if they don't agree with others. I guess a lot of thinks are not our business but The Patch reported her death, she's a young girl, so I find it perfectly normal for people to want a follow up on the story. It's hard to read a story about something and then read no updates after that.

What updates are you looking for? All the details of how she committed suicide? That is none of your buisiness. She is not with us anymore. The updates you should be looking for do not come from Patch. Call the school. They will tell you what you need to know. OR if you know the family, reach out to them. You all are just nosy and yes, "Jim", sometimes- SOME topics - need our attention, but clearly how she killed herself is what you want to know. I am certain the school would call you if your child were in danger.
That said, the school needs to reach out to students and parents abotu how it is combatting bullying. Sometimes this is the reason, and sometimes it is for other reasons, maybe mantal health reasons or family issues that, again are not your business. Life is not a soap opera. Let this family grieve.
If you have an issue with the school, how about going directly to the district or school and not posting on Patch for details. Seems to me that you just want to cause the family more pain. Some things are private.

I think updates are important. Is there a danger at the school? I have been in the school and there are plenty of opportunities. How do we protect the youth if we don't know what the issue is. To sweep this under the rug is denying the public their rite to be informed. You can not correct something that you stick your head in the sand, speculate and never know the truth.

I too think updates are important. I know it's not the Patch's fault. But without any information, we are left to guess what happened. I believe that since the police are investigating, she didn't die of an illness. So that leaves, drugs, murder or suicide. They didn't report on any arrests or to be on the look out for a killer. So I have sort of narrowed it down in my mind. I would like to know if there is a concern out there for parents, but I assume no because no warning from police.
