UPDATED: Eight Jurors Chosen for Drew Peterson's Murder Trial

Updated 7:40 p.m. 

Jury selection has concluded for Monday. Attorneys questioned 31 potential jurors and chose eight. One potential juror did not show up to court. Drew Peterson is now conferring with his lawyers about which ones he finds acceptable and which he wants tossed out of the pool.

The judge will halt selection for the week when he seats enough jurors. Fifty more prospective jurors are expected Tuesday morning.

With fewer than half of potential jurors questioned by 5 p.m., jury selection will continue into Monday night. No jurors have been selected, and Will County Judge Edward Burmila plans to question at least a dozen more potential jurors tonight.

Two of the 14 jurors queried so far today have admitted to watching at least some of the movie "Drew Peterson: Untouchable," based on the book, "Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Sergeant Drew Peterson."

One of these jurors, a plumber from New Lenox, said he knew that he was
told not to read or watch anything related to Peterson by in 2009, but it had been so long he figured he would never be called for jury duty.

The young man said the movie made Peterson appear "guilty" and "smart." He said the drama affected his girlfriend to such a degree that she was left "distraught." 

The man said that he was able to distinguish between the movie and reality, and that he harbors no bias against Peterson.

Defense attorney moved to have all 40 dismissed but Burmila did not agree. Greenberg said he heard the jurors asking each other what questions had been put to them when he stepped into the hall.

Attorneys are in the process of interviewing the 12th prospective juror.
Judge Burmila is expected to keep today's proceedings going until all 39
prospective jurors are questioned. There were supposed to be 40 but one
did not appear.

Updated 12:25 p.m. "Good morning, ladies and gentleman, I'm Mr. Peterson."

With that, accused wife-killer Drew Peterson made his first impression on a group of 40 men and women who may serve on the jury for his murder trial.

Thirty-nine of the 40 were then led from the courtroom and attorneys began questioning individual prospective jurors. First up was a young man attending Columbia College in Chicago. He said his father is the dean of students at .

He was followed by a Beecher resident who said her only brushes with crime were when her father-in-law was shot and when her parents' Chicago Heights home was burglarized.

After the Beecher woman a mortgage calculator and a Lockport man both said they were not exposed to media converage that would affect their objectivity in determining Peterson's guilt or innocence.

The most pointed argument over a juror came with the fifth and last to be questioned this morning. A vascular technologist was asked by defense attorney Darryl Goldberg whether she had any bumper stickers on her car, drawing an objection from State's Attorney Jame Glasgow.

Judge Edward Burmila had the woman leave the courtroom while five lawyers argued over the merits of the question. Burmila let Goldberg ask it. The woman said she has no bumper stickers.

Updated 9 a.m. The murder trial of former Bolingbrook Police officer is set to start Monday, and the show has already begun.

Peterson's lawyer  and held an early morning press conference outside the Will County Courthouse Monday morning. Jury selection is expected to start today after some last-minute pre-trial motions. 

When asked at the conference if not having a local attorney helping in the jury selection process would hurt Peterson's defense, Brodsky said it won't be a concern.

"We have the ultimate jury consultant. Drew was a cop," he said.
