Drug Cartel Planned to Smuggle Cocaine into Bolingbrook Airport: DEA
The operation was planned for the same weekend as the 12th annual Cavalcade of Planes at the Clow International Airport in Bolingbrook, according to reports.
Last spring, leaders of a drug trafficking organization offered a pilot $40,000 to fly 26 kilos of cocaine into Clow International Airport in Bolingbrook, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The operation was planned for the same weekend in June as the 13th annual Cavalcade of Planes.
That pilot turned out to be a Drug Enforcement Administration informant, and two men were arrested at Clow International Airpot. They agreed to cooperate with authorities.
There's a growing use of smaller airports for regional drug rings, the Trib reported.
"Really we're beginning to see that more and more domestically, said Jack Riley, the Drug Enforcement Administration's special agent in charge of its Chicago division. "Of course, the Mexican organizations will move it across the border virtually any way possible. But the regional organizations are moving dope and money into smaller airports where there's really less law enforcement and most of them don't even file a flight plan. It's very effective."

Here is a great read for you from Forbes-Your bad grammar at work. Particularly read the part "Why you shouldn't be a writer" http://www.forbes.com/sites/alisongriswold/2012/06/22/your-bad-grammar-at-work-whats-the-problem/2/

What are you the grammar police? Maybe you should proof your own wretched posts first before posting dumb comments. We really don't care how clever you, are nor care about your ability to find something unrelated on GOOGLE and post it.
If you don't like the author, go to another site and stop being a jerk.

Great write-up Melissa. Just a few days ago someone commented on this very case under my "Are You Voting?" article. I was very curious about it. Thanks for the detail.

We have a serious subject here and right now somebody is concerned more with grammar. I find that interesting.

Five post, unrelated to the author's article. I'm happy that everyone is defending Melissa, you have good reason to. It doesn't matter what these authors write about because there is always one jerk off to go totally off subject.
I'm glad this bust happened because it will hopefully keep our airport off the radar. These types are not to be played with, or at the minimum, given the chance to further bring this garbage up north.
Keep up the good work, Patch/Bolingbrook.

This story was reported about in the Chicago Trib on Sunday.
Why did it take 2 more days for our local Patch to report on it?

By chance, is this somehow related to the recorded phone call I received from the school saying the streets over in that area being closed? And that the busses are taking an alternative route??

Mickey,
No. This happened last June.

Thank you Maria.
After I was done listening to the message from Valley View, I checked my email for any alerts from the Patch and this happened to be what I came across first.

Thank you for your comments, everyone! When one person posts 40-50 pieces of content a week, there's bound to be a typo somewhere, and I try to fix my mistakes as quickly as possible. Marie, I can only report about things that I know about, and I didn't see this until last night. You can always send news tips to me at melissa.sersland@patch.com. Thanks!

I have some thoughts..do you think this was the first time that drug runners were going to use Clow Airport? I wonder... Also, I was reminded many years ago there was drug running going on using a small airport in Mena, Arkansas with possible connections to Bill Clinton when he was governor.

Half the people in this town are on coke. The cops have a lot of nerve blocking our supply of mind altering substances. You know, in order to live in this state your mind has to be permanently altered. I cannot find my assault rifle, where did I put it? You see what happens without my mind saving drugs? I cannot function without my mind being numb. If its not I am actually aware of my own thoughts which are very scary. Have a nice day, Bollingbrook.
