Joel Brodsky represented Peterson for about five years and left his defense team in October 2012. Brodsky left the case after Peterson, 59, was convicted of killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Peterson faces up to 60 years in prison for the 2004 killing. He is seeking a new trial and a two-day hearing on the request is set to start Feb. 19.

Brodsky's lawsuit names Aol Patch, Patch Media Corporation, Patch Local Editor Joseph Hosey, Tribune Co., and Tribune reporter Stacy St. Clair. A copy of the lawsuit is attached to this post.

The lawsuit also names attorney Steven A. Greenberg, who worked with Brodsky on the Peterson case. The lawsuit alleges that Greenberg distributed a letter to members of the press – including St. Clair – that contained "false and misleading" information regarding Brodsky.

The lawsuit states that Patch's coverage contained "false and misleading" information. The lawsuit references Patch Local Editor Joe Hosey's 2008 book Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Drew Peterson, which was later made into the Lifetime movie Drew Peterson: Untouchable starring Rob Lowe.

The lawsuit states that Hosey's coverage for Patch was motivated by a desire to hype the book and film and that he practiced "yellow journalism."

By the way, the entire conviction process of D.P. started with the Family of Kathleen Savio paying for the expensive processes of disenternment, and hiring of Dr. Baaden, and paying for a quality autopsy. Nothing would have happened unless they paid for all of it. And they had no guarantee of success when they did it. Much praise to them as we watch the utter melt down of his defense and former "team".

Kathlene Savio's family is lucky to spend money on a McDonald's Happy meal. Drew Peterson has a $79,000 a year pension, owned two businesses, and worked at one time six jobs. The family of Kathlene Savio is looking for money with books, and lawsuits. However, nobody is buying Sue Domain's book, and that civil suit will be dropped due to the fact Kathlene Savio's children dropped from the lawsuit believing their dad is an innocent man. Which carries an enormous amount of weight in a lawsuit.

Brodsky, just realized that this may be his last, and final case. Who'd hire this moron? He needs a meal ticket.
@Bob Jamesly: You're absolutely right about the Savio Family. I'm glad they took the gamble. Dr Baaden is the best at what he does.

Stef only one wife died and that was his ex. And who is to say if he did kill her? Don't believe what the media wants you to believe. Always keep an open mind. There is a possibility this man could be innocent.

Ah Peterson! The corrupt BPD should have been replaced from the top to the bottom!
18 or more 911 calls for domestic abuse and not one arrest, can you imagine that happening if it was an ordinary citizen?

Drew Peterson was never corrupt Bill. He was a 29 year police veteran, who was on the swat team, who retired as a sergeant. He is still receiving a pension. So he was never corrupt. The definition of corrupt is having or showing a willingness to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain. "Showing a willingness", there was no proof this man killed Kathleen Savio for the exception of two third party statements. Statements from a wannabe priest who has confessions told to him by pretty woman in a coffee shop. This is a fact, he has confessions with pretty woman in a coffee shop. The other statement was made by a defense attorney. And we know that all defense attorneys tell the truth right? Give me a break. Even if you believe these people, do you believe the source Stacy Peterson? Is it possible she could've lied to get more money out of a divorce? If this is the case, than there is room for reasonable doubt. Not to mention this stupid law, dubbed Drew's Law, affects our sixth amendment rights. The defendant has the right to be confronted by the witness. The new kangaroo law proposed by that slick hair (I will lie like any other politician to be reelected) Glassgoof is if the defendant had "silenced" the witness. Stacy Peterson is not proclaimed dead just missing, therfore how do you know the defendant silence the witness? With no body it is impossible to prove she is dead. It is just speculation. Just like with Kathleen, it is all speculation.

Oh dear Patrick, why would you say Stacey could have lied to get more $$$ in a divorce. HELLO!!!!! She never made it to a divorce.... she never got Jack from D.P. so that theory is kinda caput..don't cha think? Just because he was on the police force for many years does not make him an outstanding citizen or public servant. Look at the L.A. cop on the run. Or the police who mis-use the badge and give it the tarnished record.

I have to agree with you Patrick, there was no proof that an articulated jury can convict this man on. Now that's the problem, there was no articulated jury. Just goofs that wanted to dress alike all throughout the trial. The moment I would've seen that circus act I would've demanded a retrial on the fact the jury had talk to each other during the trial. In a normal criminal court setting that bullshit is sanctioned. The whole trial was a kangaroo atmosphere. The judge Edward Burmilla and Glassgow the States attorney went against each other in a States Attorney election. So naturally it is assume by the general public that here is bad blood between the two. There is nothing like that whatsoever. In fact I wouldn't be surprise if they are both really good friends. Isn't this a conflict of interest? And what about that stooge retired geez judge White. Why is he on the right of Glaspuss nodding his head in agreement after the verdict. Isn't this a conflict of interest? What a joke.

Hi bmail57. I just said its a possibility. Stacy Peterson according to her primary care physician suffered from clinical depression. Her biological mother ran away. These are facts. Is it likely she would leave her children? My opinion is of course not. However in conscious I cannot convict a man with no eyewitnesses or DNA evidence concerning the murder of Kathlene Savio. There was no signs of a break in, no DNA evidence, no eyewitnesses, Kathlene Savio suffered from cervical vertigo and at one time according to her primary care physician called down a flight of stairs due to dizziness from her cervical vertigo. Too many holes to cover, and this case for conviction was not beyond a reasonable doubt.
