Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Goodbye: Local Editor Leaving Bolingbrook Patch

Local Editor Brian Feldt to leave position with Bolingbrook Patch effective Monday.

All good things come to an end. And my time here at Bolingbrook Patch is no exception.

It brings me great joy and sadness to announce I will be leaving my position as editor of Bolingbrook Patch to take up a similar position in St. Louis effective Monday.

This news brings me sadness for all the reasons you would expect. Over the last year and a half, I've encountered some of the most amazing people doing wonderful things across Bolingbrook and beyond. The relationships I've made here will be treasured forever and I look forward to reading all the great news I'm sure will come out of Bolingbrook in the future—not to mention watching the Drew Peterson Lifetime movie that debuts Saturday night.

But at the same time, this news brings me tons of joy for the simple fact that I will be heading back to my hometown in St. Louis, where my family and friends await.

From the moment we launched Bolingbrook Patch on Sept. 10, 2010, Bolingbrook news junkies and information devourers have embraced the site and made it their own—evident by the "the" that most folks attach to "The Patch".

But Bolingbrook's colors are also painted all over the site in so many different ways—the commenters with their (not always appropriate) insight; photos uploaded from various community members; our wonderful team of bloggers, columnists and freelancer writers; and the thousands of readers who head to Bolingbrook Patch to satisfy their information needs.

Without all of you reading this message, Bolingbrook Patch would not be what it is today. What is it? Well, I'm not totally sure, but I know I'm damn proud of it!

Now, Patch isn't leaving you in the dark here. Erin Sauder, an excellent journalist who has been writing for Patch for sometime now, will be filling in on an interim basis while a permanent candidate is found. Erin, I believe, will do a great job holding the fort down.

Rest assured, I'll be keeping track of Bolingbrook news. Having lived here this short period of time, I've already become invested thanks to the wonderful community officials and residents.

But above all, I want to send out a massive thanks to everyone that I've worked with in Bolingbrook, in the Chicago Patch region and to you, the readers!

Best,

Brian

What say it isn't so?! It's been great Brian--wishing you the best...guess I'll have to sign up for St. Louis Patch ("the" intentionally omitted!) so I can still follow you ;)

Good luck, Brian! We will miss you so much. Bolingbrook has been very lucky to have such a committed reporter for the past 18 months. I'm sure you'll quickly develop the same loyal following at your new post.

I've worked with numerous editors over the years and you are one of the best!!! Although a "transplant" your enthusiasm and willingness to seek and share our stories was refreshing! I would wish you luck in the future, but you don't need it.
You possess the temperament, tenacity and skills to succeed at whatever endeavor you choose!

Best wishes, Brian! Sorry to see you go, but it's always great to be back *home* with family & friends. (John is from Carlyle, IL - 'bout 50 miles east of St. Louis. So we know...) Thank you for all of your encouragement, insights & hard work. Also, for inviting more of us to become involved in helping to build "The Patch" as readers & writing contributors. Stay strong & true! We'll miss you! Deb & John

I almost teared up reading your post, Brian! I still can't believe your time here is ending. We will sorely miss you and your talent as a journalist in the Chicago suburbs, but our loss is most certainly St. Louis' gain. We won't be talking every day anymore, but we're glad to be keeping you as a coworker in the Patch family. Knock 'em dead, and don't forget your friends back here in the Bolingbrook area!
