Why does it take a week for this news to be published? What if the victim had been shot? The pony express was quicker than the Patch. If the police won't release this info sooner..the Patch should demand more timely release. The public deserves better more timely information.

Many police stories are not reported to me until I see them in the police blotter, which is provided weekly by the Bolingbrook Police Department. I would challenge any member of the Pony Express to a reporting contest.

Bolingbrook Police Chief McCarthy could make this available far faster, but he obviously won't.

I worked at the jewel that use to be there...I remember one day a guy walked in, smiled at me and another employee, picked up a case of beer, and walked right out...all done in front of us. I've lived here since I was very young. I know what areas use to be safe before the street lights came, but now all the crap happens all day long. I know I don't feel safe walking around the block. My brother was robbed at knife point on Rockhurst Rd. A few years back. During the day and we even got the crap on camera and all 5 of the kids got away. I can't even feel safe in my yard.. I mean come on! We need someone who can do something about this. Police....mayor....someone because it's clearly getting out of control.

It's the fault of the parents that raise their children, not that of the Police or Mayor. Life and choices begin at home.

i have lived in winston village for a long time and it has never been a ghetto gang infested area. the crime has been recently and hopefully they get this kid that is terrorizing the people that live there and obviously the kids that live here too.

C) You should have been there on New years eve........... 3 security guards in the liquor dept. actually bending over the undesireables as they were looking at the items to shop lift. D) your staement of regarding the 1970 buildings. Please take note and lookaround you. Dominicks and Jewel pulled out of the first locations because they backed up to thugville's. Dominicks left BB entirely, & the other store is quit away from civilization.............more difficult to disappear into townhomes. Walmart want to leave their building too but............thanks to comunity envolvment they were not allowed to leave, so they were stuck remodeling instead of rebuilding.I don't mean to make any enemy of you but the shop lifting #'s of the Jewel # 126 made you wonder why they were there so long. HMMMMM I wonder why Portillos has armed guards there? Surely not be of u & me.

Ok poker face. I live in the area and that was my child that was robbed at gunpoint. Crime is everywhere no matter where you go. I'm just stating that I have lived here and never had any problems till now. I have also had 2 kids graduate from Bolingbrook high school and have seen everything that goes on from in school to out of school. My eyes are open believe me! And to verbal sniper... Not everyone on section 8 has problems. And riverstone and Innsbruck don't even accept it!

Riverstone and Innsbruck as well as anyone can't refuse Section 8 and Innsbruck has had Section 8 for at least 20 years.

It's not the Mayor's fault. He is being put against the wall by the Chicago machine. Where do you think all of the Cabrini Green trash went when Chicago kicked them all out a few years ago? Answer: Section 8 housing in all suburbs. I asked Clair face to face years back why he doesn't demolish Innsbrook or Beaconridge and he simply told me that he can't, he cannot touch it, it is subsidized housing. Otherwise, he would lose a ton of state money for important Bolingbrook efforts. His back is against the wall. Clair is a great Mayor. Look at all of the business he has brought to Bolingbrook. Promenade??? Weber growing like crazy??? That's why he is going to get another term soon and nobody is running against him. Give Clair some credit.

Call Innsbruck and river stone and ask them. I bet Innsbruck says they don't and river stone accepts low income families but not people that have a voucher from section 8. But all that really doesn't matter. The kids growing up now are different from when I grew up. And it's not just in Bolingbrook it's all over the place. I'm not defending anyone I mean my son was the one robbed embarrassed and degraded by these kids. You just don't know how badly I want that kid so I can show him what it feels like but I can't. And for the record the bpd has helped me a lot with this incident and will find him. Once they get him I'm sure a good amount of the things going on in Winston village will stop. Yah there is still gonna be young kids doing stupid things but that's everywhere. I'm just glad my son was not shot or beat up and he's still with me today.

I strolled through Winston Woods with my friends at 12AM back in the 80s and I was never scared of somebody jacking me with a gun and taking my clothes. Poker face first off my child had nothing on that cost a lot of money! He had Levi jeans on an Aeropostale t shirt and a hoodie over that. Also he's a sophomore in high school and I knew where he was going! Like I mentioned before me and my kids have never had issues with anyone in this area. So I've always felt safe and felt they were safe. I can't help that someone's else's child obviously has some major problems upstairs that he would do something like that! Go ask bpd what the name of the mother of the child that got robbed is!! I have no apparent reason to lie! Were you following your child when he got hurt?? I can't be up my kids asses all the time! They do not cause trouble! I have 5 children and a full time job and a home to keep up with while doing it alone. If I had to drive everyone where they wanted to go I would be in my car from the time I go to work till its time to go to bed! What about their homework and feeding them?? My son was walking to his cousins house so they could go to a game at brooks middle school. Bpd has helped and everything is already in the works. Not to mention they were to me n my son before I was off the phone with 911. They will get him. I have lived in Bolingbrook for 36 years also and never had problems like this!

It's the police that are slow. Not the patch. Makes me nervous these days. Reading all these unsolved police reports shows me they are slow at everything. It is making me think harder about getting my own gun soon.
