Peterson Lawyer Blogging for Chicago Sun-Times

Joseph "Shark" Lopez is blogging his take of the trial, and it's catching the ire of some in the journalism industry.

One of attorneys is giving his take on the trial -- in a blog on the Chicago Sun-Times website.

Joseph "Shark" Lopez's blog is called, "Swimming with the Shark." He's submitted a blog post for each day of testimony so far.

“He approached us,” Sun-Times Editor-in-Chief Jim Kirk told the Chicago Reader. The news organization couldn't find a reason to not post the blog, he said, and the Sun-Times reads through the posts before they go live to make sure they don't cross a line.

But Chicago Press Critic Steve Rhodes thinks just having a blog is crossing a line.

The blog JimRomenesko.com had this quote from Rhodes:

"Is there any concern by the Sun-Times that they are being used by a defense lawyer who would love to influence the jury?

Does the Sun-Times believe they are contributing in any way to the pursuit of justice – or were their internal discussion focused more on page views?

It’s just horrid."
