You ever think to consider that the 14 year old girl lied about her age? Nowadays young girls are allowed to wear makeup and clothing that barely covers their @$$. She could have lied and said she was 18 and actually looked as such! People are always quick to blame the guy. I find it funny that parents allow their kids to dress like sluts because the kids complain that, "this is fashion today, and I want to look like everyone else!" I mean, I go to my church on Sunday in the summer and see a lot the young girls I witnessed growing up looking like how someone I'd see in my college dressing with short shorts and everything. Of course, it's all ok until the parents find out that the kids are having sex and then they want freak out. To me that is all just hypocrisy. I mean, I'm not even that old yet, I'm only 20, and I was still in High School when all of this clothing started going on the market. I believe it was more around my senior year though, but none the less I dealt with the pressure of how it was cool and fashionable to wear clothes like that. I think in today's society the new peer pressure is more appearance based, you're cool if you dress stylish and everyone cares what their peers think in middle/high school. The thing that really makes me sick though isn't really the high school girls dressing like that, it's the middle school girls. I mean, 14 is definitely too young to be having sex in my opinion, but it's better than 12. Additionally, having birth control available to these young ladies is a blessing because if they are foolish enough to engage in such behavior then they should at least be safe. Teenage pregnancies, and any other unplanned pregnancy out of wedlock for that matter, is probably a very scary situation.

The young girls should keep their legs closed then .. The ones getting birth control at 16 and under are doing it so they can have all the sex they want. The birth control should be left up to the parents and not letting these young girls getting it w/o consent.

I find this whole discussion ridiculous. A 14yr old has sex with an 18yr old and society calls it rape. That is just stupid. It's biological reality. It wasn't long ago in history that 14 year olds were getting married and having kids? Why? because they are biologically capable of it. There is a reason our species sexually matures in our teens... because that is when we are ready for sex and most likely to fall pregnant and have kids. Shoudl we educate children about safe sex, yes! Should we encourage kids to wait until they are emotionally mature and financially stable, of course! Should we protect young people from being influenced by power imbalances, definitely! Making it a criminal activity for young people (18) to have sex and calling a 14yr girl a victim is ridiculous in the extreme.

I would hardly call an 18yr old a rapist for having consensual sex with a 14yr old who may have lied about her age and probably looked much more mature than 14.

Also, I do not agree that kids should have access to drugs or medical intervention without their parents involvement. Is emancipation the next step here? These are kids we are talking about. Society blames the parents for not bringing up the kids properly and the state cries it is out of funds to deal with the overflowing prisons yet we will take away more parental rights to what end?

Perhaps they think if they tinker with the kids reproductive organs from an earlier age they will become sterile. Is that the angle here? Who knows....
