A Bolingbrook woman found dead in her bathroom Friday afternoon is believed to have been killed in a domestic dispute, police said.

In a press release, Lt. Michael Rompa said a female caller told dispatchers that her mother was dead. Officers responding to the home at 513 Nassau Ave. discovered Marzo in the bathroom with apparent stab wounds to her back.

A preliminary investigation suggested Marzo was involved in a domestic dispute with her son, Rompa said in the release.

Rompa said the son was found in Chenoa, a town about 85 miles south of Bolingbrook, and is now in custody.

Michael L. Marzo, 23, is charged with first-degree murder and was being processed pending transport to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, Rompa said early Saturday.

“There is no indication of any other individuals involved at this time in the investigation,” Rompa said.

The crime is not related to the search for fugitive Cesar Sanchez, who escaped from a moving Illinois Department of Corrections van Friday afternoon in Lockport.
