in Chicago Business' Market Facts study of the likelihood of homes having Internet access shows that 

Bolingbrook's west side—the 60490—scored a 135 in Chicago Business' Market Facts study of the likelihood of homes having Internet access. That figure was the highest score for any zip code in Will County.

Bolingbrook's 60440 zip code on the west side scored a 117.

The national average is represented by an index of 100, the study said.

And surfing Facebook or watching YouTube videos may not be the only benefit to being connected to the Internet.

According to a report in National Journal, an expansion of broadband Internet could improve the health of rural Americans through telemedicine, electronic prescriptions, and electronic medical records.

According to the report, other benefits include making administrative work more efficient; providing guidance to paramedics; and helping seniors via in-home monitoring.
