The Road of Entitlement

Drivers never cease to amaze me.  Just the other day I was driving on the highway and watched a semi suddenly decide he did not want "that" exit ramp, so he swirved into the lane next to him and cut the other driver off!  But wait, it gets better!  As I passed the truck and the car he cut off, I noticed the woman driving the car was doing her CHECKBOOK...yes, that's right her CHECHBOOK, on the steering wheel!  I guess balancing just could not be done at any safer time then speeding down the highway at 65mph.  Oh and the driver of the truck...on his cell phone.

Like I said, this really should not surprise me.  It has become such a "me" society that people do not take into account the other people on the road.  How many times have you been cut off my someone who flips on their turn signal and proceeds to come into your lane?  And who gets the dirty look and the #1 signal, you do of course!  The last time I checked a turn signal was supposed to signal that they need to make a lane change...NOT...HERE I COME, YOU BETTER GET OUT OF MY WAY!  I am convinced that this reckless attitude stems partially from the idea that they (offending driver) think you will do anything to avoid hitting them because you don't want the hassle of an accident.  Maybe it is time insurance companies got stricter with people who cause accidents.

My mother is constantly reminding me of how scared she is for when my children become licensed to drive.  Since that is a mere 5 years away for my oldest,  I am going to hold onto the hope that the cars will be more advanced and not allow drivers to make these careless choices!

Tell me the craziest thing you have witnessed as a driver.

Apparently, STOP signs no longer mean stop.

Spot on with this. One of my favorites is when someone realizes they need to turn right when they are in the left lane. Instead of going to the next street to correct the mistake they turn on their signal, mess up traffic and almost cause a crash. "Hey look at me, I'm an idiot, I don't know how to drive. I messed up but you suffer the consequences".

So true! Or how about the U-turn in the middle of a busy road? Not at an intersection, just right in the middle of a busy four lane road! Do people really not know that if they just went up the road a bit they could safely find a side street or an intersection to turn around. Actually I think they are all so afraid of that little voice on the GPS telling them they need to turn around that they can not think straight and just follow the command!

Uuugghh...the bright shiny red STOP sign...I think it actually reads ROLL, but only a select few are able to see that! I am constantly joking with my kids "that person is special and the sign does not apply to them". There is one in front of my house and I have suggested to BB Police Dept. that if they would just sit out here in an unmarked car, they could write an enormous amount of tickets between "non-stoppers" and speeders. So far, no luck!

People who are so afraid of being caught in a light inch their way into the intersection so when the light changes they are stopped there, have seen this many of morning trying to turn off of Delware & Boughton and have to sit through a light simply cause there is no room in the intersection to turn.

@bandit~Or the 5-6 cars that turn left after they have gotten a red arrow and you now have a green! "Really...how did you all fit in the intersection"? This is HUGE at Boughton and 53!
