Let's say you get home from a long day at work. You're tired and you're hungry. You have a delicious dinner with your family. The meal is over, and the next question is, "What's for dessert?" Ice cream in the freezer? Left-over apple pie from grandma's? Those homemade chocolate chip cookies? Mmmmm....delicious. Or mmmm....do you really need it?
Try this out for dessert - go for a walk.
Go for at least a 30-minute walk after dinner. Go with the whole family. The dog probably just ate dinner with you too, so take the dog out. Walk around the whole neighborhood. Check out the landscaping on that neighbor's house you've been meaning to see. Find a new tennis court or a park where the kids can play. Walk to that new coffee shop that just opened up by you. Just go out and take a walk. Eventually turn that 30-minute walk into a 45-minute or 60-minute walk! Instead of consuming more calories from dessert, you and your family (and the dog) will be burning off those dinner calories. Plus you get to spend quality time all together.
