A selection of items to keep you updated in Boingbrook today.

Bolingbrook High School’s Phoebe Mondala is a national champion.

The BHS Class of 2013 graduate tied for first place in the Fashion Construction category at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America National Conference in Nashville July 7.

Mondala, who earned the right to be Illinois’ FCCLA Ambassador to the National Conference by earning a Gold Medal in Fashion Construction at the state level, scored 99.66 out of a possible 100 in the national competition by making an outfit, creating a storyboard about the process, designing a display, and going through a rigorous interview.

“The competition required her to show her skills not only in fashion design but also in fashion merchandising,” said Debra Taylor, who serves as FCCLA advisor at Bolingbrook High School. “She is a wonderful young lady and worked very hard.”
