The Silver Cross Foundation announces the recent appointments of Mark Stevens as Foundation Chairperson and two new members to its Board of Directors - James R. Pitcairn and G. Kurt Sangmeister.

“We are honored to have such accomplished business leaders and community-minded individuals join our Foundation Board of Directors,” said Larry Johnson, Vice President of the Foundation at Silver Cross Hospital. “Through their guidance, Silver Cross Hospital will continue its initiative to bring state-of-the-art exceptional healthcare services to area residents.”

Mark Stevens is President and CEO of LincolnWay Community Bank in New Lenox.  He has been in the banking industry for over 34 years, starting as a teller in high school.  Stevens graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting, and graduated from the Herbert Prochnow Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. His service to the community includes serving as Immediate Past President of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce, member of the Joliet Rotary Club, board member of the Will-Grundy Easter Seals, member of the Minooka High School Athletic Boosters, and board member for the Illinois Bankers Association. Stevens resides in Mokena with his wife Ellen, and together they have 4 children and 12 grandchildren.

James R. Pitcairn taught for 33 years at Lincoln-Way High School as an art teacher, and served 20 years as a district administrator. Pitcairn received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Illinois State University in education. He completed his post graduate work at Northern Illinois University. During the earlier part of his career, he also served as a volunteer fireman. After retiring from the school district, he became a full time member of the New Lenox Fire Department where he completed a total of 25 years

of service and leaving the department as Deputy Chief. Currently, Pitcairn is a member of the Joliet Township High School Alumni Board, Manhattan Lions Club, New Lenox Chamber of Commerce, New Lenox Fire Commission, and a volunteer in the Emergency Department at Silver Cross Hospital. Pitcairn resides in New Lenox with his wife, Kathryn, and together they have two children.

G. Kurt Sangmeister has been a Court Administrator for 18 years for the 12th Judicial Circuit of Will County. In his role, he is responsible for the overall administration of the Circuit Court. He is responsible for collective bargaining with several unions representing employees under the Circuit Court. Sangmeister received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in business administration from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. Over the years, he has been involved in the following community groups: New Lenox Plan Commission/ Zoning Board of Appeals, Lincoln Way High School Referendum Steering Committee, Lincoln Way High School Community Recognition Award, and Lincoln Way High School Foundation for Educational Excellence Board of Directors. Sangmeister resides in New Lenox with his wife, Gina, and their daughter.

Pitcairn and Sangmeister join the other 14 members of the Silver Cross Foundation Board of Directors.  They are Dorothy Brown (Secretary), Judy Hageman, (Treasurer), Craig Czerkies, Mona Goeken, Stacy Holland, Larry Johnson, Chip Krusemark, Lynn Lichtenaurer, Paul Pawlak, John Quinn, Val Rand, Mark Stevens (Chairperson), Dr. Richard Tarizzo, and Michele Vana.

The Silver Cross Foundation Board of Directors exists to develop all forms of philanthropic support for the healthcare programs and services provided by Silver Cross Hospital.
