Beat Winter Break Blues at Bolingbrook Park District

From Super Hero Moviemaking to Wacky Water Weeks at Pelican Harbor, the Bolingbrook Park District has got you—and your children—covered during winter break.

Get your kids OFF their devices and into new adventures over the holidaybreak this winter. From Wacky Water Week at Pelican Harbor to specialty classes and opportunities, Bolingbrook Park District is “Where the Fun Is” this season. Check out the following programs and events below -

Super Hero Moviemaking – Ages 7 to 12 years

Help Spiderman and Batman save the planet in your very own film. Create a stop-motion animation movie featuring your favorite super heroes. This one-day class utilizes story boards, script, design props and digital cameras for filming and special effects. All students receive a copy of the class movies on CD to share with family and friends.

Fee: $44 w/Resident ID; ($66 regular fee)

Winter Break Chess Scholars Camp – Ages 6-13 years

It’s your move in this engaging chess mini-camp for both beginners and experienced players alike. Chess Scholar coaches will teach strategies and help players recognize patterns in an interactive group session. Then it’s on to guided practice time. Test for your Chess Belt (similar to Martial Arts) and compete at the end of the camp for prizes. Each camper will receive a chess set and an award. Please bring your own snacks.

Fee: $119 w/Resident ID; ($179 regular fee)


Danceforce Winter Camp – Ages 5-12 years

Join the award-winning, nationally acclaimed Bolingbrook Park DistrictDanceforce at the Winter Break Dance Camp. This is a fundraiser to help raise funds for our Danceforce Jamm Teams who participate in costly conventions/competitions and other events/performances throughout the year!

Dance campers will start the morning with the Danceforce Jamm Team for warm ups in the gymnasium at 10:00 am. Dancers then divide into small groups to learn a jazz and hip hop routine choreographed by the Senior Jamm team dancers. While the dancers are learning the routines, parents are encouraged to run errands, finish up last minute holiday shopping, and/or finalize your holiday plans. At 3:30 pm, parents return to watch the Dance Camp showcase. Don’t forget your camera!

Lunch will be provided for the campers during the session. Please note any special dietary needs at the time of registration. Campers will receive a complimentary gift for attending the Dance Camp. Please note that the fee is non-refundable after Dec 19th.

Wacky Water Weeks at Pelican Harbor – Dec. 21-Jan. 5

Splash into themed fun, games and activities at Pelican Harbor from noon-5:30 pm daily. Beat the cold and warm up winter with aquatic “sleigh races,” our own take on Finding Nemo and much more.

Pelican Harbor will be open Monday-Friday noon-8:00 pm during these two weeks, and noon-6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Pelican Harbor will be closed on December 25 and January 1, and will close at 5:00 pm onDecember 24 and December 31.
