Bolingbrook Company Raises $7,380 for Operation Christmas

Employees of COTG -- A Xerox Company, headquartered in Bolingbrook, raised $7,380 to purchase gifts for families in need.

A Bolingbrook company raised more than $7,000 to buy gifts for Bolingbrook families this holiday season. 

COTG -- A Xerox Company raised $7,380 in three weeks and donated 100 toys. Each week, employees could purchase raffle tickets for various prizes. All funds that were received from the event went towards the purchase of toys.

The total tripled the amount of money raised in 2011.

“We were running really low on our toy inventory, and COTG really stepped up and helped us out,” said Lee Bush, co-chair of Operation Christmas. “The donations that COTG made this year have allowed us to help out more families put several smiles on local children’s faces this holiday.” 

It was the 12th year Bolingbrook Fire Department has partnered with Operation Christmas. The organization provides gifts for more than 500 Bolingbrook families during the holiday season.

The Bolingbrook Fire Department used more than $4,000 in grants and donations to purchase gifts. Money came from Bolingbrook Fire Department, representatives of Bolingbrook Firefighters Local 3005, Chicago Office Technology Group, Target, Kohl’s and Bradlink Ventures. 

Volunteers with Operation Christmas, according to a release, make a special effort each year to ensure every family who needs help receives it. They do not have any income requirements. Families request help at their headquarters at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center.

Each Bolingbrook family is given two large gifts per child and any small gifts that have been donated.
