Eye of the Storm

Photos from the Blizzard of 2011.

Life is slowly returning to normal after this week’s blizzard—roads are passable, the stores are open and the power is back on.

Yet the snowy scene around town is still one to get used to as open streets are now littered with blind spots formed by 10-foot high snow drifts and one misstep can send a shoe knee dip into the freezing white stuff.

The photos of the blizzard show some of the damage that more than 16 inches of snow and 60 mpr winds can cause. They also show how an event that leaves us stranded can actually be a blessing in disguise as we venture out into a blanket of white to share hot chocolate with the neighbors or break in the sledding hill with the kids.
