Family Seeking Answers in Romeoville Man's Mysterious Death

29-year-old husband and father John Perricone died unexpectedly last month on a Carnival cruise.

A family is looking for answers after a Romeoville father of four died unexpectedly during a family trip last month.

NBC Chicago reported that John Perricone, 29, was on a Carnival cruise with his wife, the couple's four children and his sister when he suddenly became ill. When he failed to improve after a couple of days, wife Brittany reportedly took him to the boat's infirmary.

"While on the cruise John started to have a hard time breathing so he decided to go back to the room to lay down and rest. The next morning he was still having a hard time breathing so reluctantly he agreed to go to the ship's hospital," Perricone’s father-in-law, Lee Forseth, said on a donation website created for the family.

Then, tragedy struck.

"While at the ship's hospital John began convulsing and looked at Brittany as if to say 'I'm sorry' and passed away," Forseth said.

The fundraiser website site was launched by the family's church, Community Christian Church, to help Perricone's wife and the couple's four young children.

The cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, was a Christmas present for John and Brittany, according to a fundraiser website created for the family. No other passengers on the ship became ill, according to the family, who reportedly do not suspect foul play in Perricone's death, NBC reported.
Making the tragedy even worse is the fact that the 29-year-old dad — the sole provider for his young family — had recently cancelled his life insurance policy to help make ends meet, according to the report.

"It was a tough choice, but at the age of 29 you think you can go for a year without it," Forseth said. "John was Brittany's everything. He took care of all the household bill's and finances for the family. He held Brittany's role of being a stay at home Mom in such high regard that he didn't want her to worry about anything and just stay focused on the kids."
