Fountaindale Public Library Recognized Nationally by Library Journal

The Fountaindale Public Library District was recently ranked 25th nationally by the Library Journal's Index of Library Service.

The Fountaindale Public Library District has been ranked 25th overall out of 191 public libraries in its budget category by the Library Journal's Index of Library Service.

Fountaindale’s strongest showing came in visits per capita, placing 7th out of the 191 libraries in its bracket.

"It's exciting to see that our patrons continue to utilize the services we offer," said Executive Director Paul Mills in a release. "We are constantly striving to reach new users and provide programming and materials that are relevant and beneficial to our community."

Fountaindale received a three-star rating, one of 20 libraries in Illinois across all brackets to receive any kind of star rating. Data was compiled from information provided to the Institute for Museum and Library Services and covered the 2010 fiscal year.

"I am thrilled to see Fountaindale on the Library Journal list again this year," said Peggy Danhof, President of the Fountaindale Public Library Board of Trustees in a press release. "It's wonderful to see our library recognized for its service, and I am very proud of our staff."

The rankings include 7,570 public libraries from across the United States, divided into nine different brackets based on budget expenditures. Fountaindale was grouped in the $5 - $9.9 million bracket.

The rankings were based on circulation of materials per capita, visits per capita, program attendance per capita and Internet terminal uses per capita.
