National Weather Service Issues Flood Warning for DuPage River in Bolingbrook

An additional 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall is predicted and could cause the East Branch of the DuPage River to rise above flood stage.

The National Weather Service in Chicago/Romeoville has issued a flood warning for the East Branch of the DuPage River at Bolingbrook and affecting Will County.

The warning is in effect from 2:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 31) to 2:12 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 2).

The National Weather Service is reporting heavy rainfall of between 2 and 4 inches fell over portions of the East Branch of the DuPage River watershed in the last 24 hours. Additional rainfall of as much as 1 to 1.5 inches is possible Thursday (Oct. 31) that may result in water rising above flood stage.

Flood stage is 19.5 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The NWS says water likely will rise above the flood stage Thursday afternoon and continue to rise to near 20 feet by early Friday.

The Royce Road area is designated as an impact area by the NWS. As a safety precaution, the NWS says if you encounter a flooded roadway, you should turn around and find an alternate route.
