'Another Evening of Monty Python' Coming to Bolingbrook's Theatre-On-the-Hill

"A tribute to the timeless absurdity of all things Python" will debut April 4.

Bolingbrook's Theatre-on-the-Hill will present "Another Evening of Monty Python's Flying Circus" April 4 to 27.

Performances will be indoors at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center, 375 W. Briarcliff, at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays (closed Easter weekend, April 18-20).

"This April, the madcap crew at Theatre-on-the-Hill (Indoors) will once again amuse and titillate with 'Another Evening of Monty Python's Flying Circus,' a tribute to the timeless absurdity of all things Python," Theatre-On-The-Hill said in a press release. "Performed by some of the best local comedians, this fast paced surreal production features the funniest sketches, songs, segues and naughty bits drawn from the legendary troupe's cult television program, feature films, audio recordings and live performances. Universally praised for their highly original comedic genius, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam, better known as Monty Python, forever changed the face of comedy with over four decades of intelligent satire, acerbic wit and physical silliness. Their influence on comedy has been compared to the Beatles' influence on music."

Anyone new to Monty Python will enjoy classics including the Parrot Sketch, Cheese Chop and Lumberjack, while diehard fans will appreciate rarely heard gems such as Dennis Moore, Eric the Half-a-Bee and The Bruces.

"We are irreverently reverent," said producer/director Michael Fudala. "We paid scrupulous attention to details of the original material while adapting it to our stage. Then, of course, we had fun with it."

Fudala, co-president of Theatre-on-the-Hill, previously directed "An Evening of Monty Python," a surprise success in 2012.

"A lot of folks kept asking when we would do it again. We kept a few of the best bits from the first show but this production is about 70 percent new," Fudala said. He and TOTH partner Craig Engel decided a sequel performance would be the perfect companion piece for TOTH's outdoor summer musical, "Monty Python's Spamalot," the 2005 Tony-award winning Broadway musical, coming in July.

Tickets are $15 each and are available at the box off before each show and can be reserved in advance via email or by calling 630-908-2538.
