9/11 Reflections: Valley View School Children Recite Pledge at Outdoor Ceremonies

Valley View elementary school students mark the anniversary of 9/11 and Patriot Day by reciting Pledge of Allegiance during special outdoor ceremonies Wednesday.

Twelve years after the 9/11 attack by terrorists on the World Trade Center Towers in New York City, Americans paused to reflect and remember all those who perished and all those responded in a time of great heartache.

In the Valley View School District, children marked Patriot Day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance during special outdoor ceremonies Wednesday morning at Tibbott Elementary School and Independence Elementary School, both in Bolingbrook.

Ed Lawson, supervisor of maintenance operations, raised the flag at Independence while children held their hands to their hearts.
