5 Top Suburbs Depressed by Distressed Properties

I was sorry to read in Crain's Chicago Business that Bolingbrook was #5 in the 5 top Chicago suburbs for distressed properties or lender mediated properties.  These short sales and foreclosures exert downward pressure on home sale prices for traditional sales.

The largest share of these properties in February was in Waukegan with 219 or 61.6% lender mediated properties.

#2 was Berwyn with 55.8%, #3 was Alsip with 56.4% and #4 was Richton Park at 56.3%.  Number five Bolingbrook had 54.2% foreclosures/short sales or 275 properties.

The average Chicago area percentage for lender mediated properties was 29.8% as shown in the Midwest Real Estate Data LLC.
