Property Taxes at a 20 Year High

I was just reading in the Realtor Magazine that property taxes are at a 20 year high according to the United Census Bureau.  Since this is no surprise to anyone, you may be asking what my point is.  And my point it is to simply confirm what all of us middle class families have been struggling with - constant and unending pressure on our family budgets and finances.

Property tax collections have risen every year since 1992 except for 2010 when totals fell by $5 million.  On the other hand, home values remain somewhat depressed and frequently sell below the tax assessed value.

Property taxes remain the largest source of revenue for state and local governments.
