Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital to Offer Educational Programs, Screenings This Summer

Foot Screening

Physical therapists will provide a free foot screening and explain available treatment options and ways to relieve foot pain from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, 500 Remington Blvd. Space is limited. Registration is required. To register, call (630) 856-7525.

Asthma Screening

Registration is required for the free screenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Participants must be at least 18 years old. To register, call (630) 856-7525.

Childbirth Classes:

Breastfeeding Basics

This class will focus on the “how-to’s” of breastfeeding from 5 to 7 p.m. June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. You will learn the advantages of breastfeeding, how to prepare while pregnant and how breastfeeding helps your baby get the best start. To register, call (630) 856-7525. $20.

Infant, Child and Adult CPR

Learn how to give CPR to infants, children, and adults and first aid for choking from 6:30 to 9 p.m. June 21, July 26 and Aug. 23 at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. This safety lecture is taught by an American Heart Association-certified instructor. Space is limited. To register, call (630) 856-7525. $35 per couple; $20 per person.

Lamaze

This class, to be held at 9 a.m. June 24, July 21 and Aug. 12, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, will focus on childbirth as a natural process of life and discuss relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management, epidurals, variations in labor and cesarean births. Class is taught by certified Lamaze instructors. Tour of the women’s unit is included. To register, call (630) 856-7525. $90 per couple.

Newborn Birth Class

Held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, this class will help families communicate with the new baby. Techniques will be taught on calming fussy babies, breastfeeding techniques, bottle feeding, diaper changing, cord care, circumcision, and safety techniques. To register call, 630-856-7525. $25.

Prepared Prenatal Class

This class, to be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, June 18, July 16, and Aug. 20, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, is designed to provide details and review the labor process. Class will include a discussion of vaginal delivery as well as cesarean birth. Topics covered include: stages of labor, positioning, and pain management options. Tour of Women’s Unit is included. Birth Center Tours

Birth center tours are available to expectant parents and members of the community. Tours are included in Prepared Prenatal classes and are held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Registration is required. To register call, 630-856-7525.

Exercise Classes

Pulmonary Rehab

Structured exercise and education program for adults living with lung disease. Physician order required. Call 630-312-5920. Held at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

Cardiac Rehab, Phase III

For recent Phase II graduates, those with a history of heart disease, or those seeking to prevent heart disease. Physician order required. Call 630-312-5920. Held at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

Support Groups

Look Good, Feel Better

Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the free “Look Good, Feel Better” program is designed for newly diagnosed female cancer patients. Learn how to apply makeup, manage hair and wigs during changes in appearance due to cancer treatment. Each participant will receive her own sample bag of free makeup. Light refreshments will be provided. Led by Tamela Sidley, licensed cosmetologist. Held at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Call 630-856-7525 for dates and times.

Diabetes Support Group

A diabetes support group is held the third Tuesday of every month at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital’s CREATION Health Center, 420 Remington Blvd., Suite 235. Call 630-856-7525 for more information.
