Adult and Teen Services Computer Assistant

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, is seeking a public service-oriented individual to provide computer assistance and training to patrons in the Adult and Teen Services department.

Duties: Assists patrons in the use of public access terminals, online services, Internet and other equipment and software available for public use. Maintains familiarity with all library computer software and databases. Troubleshoots computer hardware and software problems. Notifies appropriate staff of complex computer issues. Assists with department computer classes as needed. Assists patrons in the use of hand held devices as needed. Under direction of supervisor, create instructional handouts for classes and services as needed. Monitors the use of the library computer area. Notifies security staff when problems arise. Cleans and maintains computer hardware. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a high school diploma with computer related course work.

Experience: No previous experience required. Computer hardware and software support and Internet application experience in a comparable business, organization, or library preferred.

Skills: Office & Library Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications. Ability to learn and operate computer applications and programs. Familiar with Internet protocols and
search techniques. Communication Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Circulation Aide

Part-time/Non-Exempt position includes evening and weekend hours – 19 hours per week

Starting Salary: $9.73 per hour

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, Illinois, is seeking an experienced individual to sort, organize and re-shelve all library materials.

Duties: Re-shelves all library materials, sorts and prepares carts for shelving, removes materials from drop boxes and discharges materials, removed materials for Automated Material Handling (AMH) system
bins, performs basic operations of AMH system including preliminary troubleshooting, reads shelves regularly to ensure materials are shelved in their proper order, straightens materials on the shelves, provides assistance to Drive-Up window patrons as needed, assists in pulling materials for the Pick List as needed, assists with special projects as needed, performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education: Entry level position.

Skills: Office & Library Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.

Circulation Assistant

Part-time/Non-exempt position includes evening and weekend hours - 25 hours per week

Starting Salary: $12.84 per hour

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, Illinois, is seeking an experienced individual to provide circulation services for patrons.

Duties: Assists patrons in all Circulation service areas. Checks library materials in and out. Creates and renews library cards. Answers and routes all incoming telephone calls. Maintains patron reserve materials
for pickup in Lobby and Drive-Up. Performs basic operations of Automated Materials Handling (AMH) system including preliminary troubleshooting. Collects fines on overdue materials. Follows-up on missing, assumed lost and claims returned items as needed. Assists with preparing and mailing overdue notices as needed. Participates in outreach, public relations activities and library events as needed. Assists in pulling and processing of materials for Pick List. Assists in processing of transit materials from other
libraries. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a high school curriculum or equivalent. Experience: One year of related circulation or customer service experience in a comparable business, organization, or library required.

Skills: Office & Library Knowledge of standard office software including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Communication: Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Building Monitor

Part-time/Non-exempt position includes evening and weekend hours - 25 hours a week

Starting Salary: $11.18 per hour

is seeking an experienced individual to provide safe and functional environment for patrons and staff.

Duties: Monitors and secures library facilities and property. Monitor entrance and departure of visitors to the building to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Respond to security system alarms
at front doors and emergency doors. Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property. Performs basic building operation functions, including but not limited to routine housekeeping and minor facility and grounds services and repairs. Enforces the appropriate policies for the District. Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and evict violators from premises if warranted. Interact with users in a positive and professional manner, assist and provide information and directions,
and utilize diplomacy when enforcing library policies. Completes appropriate documents as needed including but not limited to Incident Reports and Accident Reports. Follows procedures for securing library
at close of business day. Completes security checks of premises inside and outside. Ensures facilities and grounds are operating safely and correctly, resolves unsafe conditions. Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor or Person in Charge. Ensures procedures for emergency situations are followed. Contacts 911 in emergency situations and provides first aid, CPR, or AED for stabilization until appropriate staff arrives. Works with police and fire officials as needed. Performs room set-ups. Works with groups using the rooms to ensure they are aware of rules and have what they need. Check room condition at end of use and clean up room in preparation for next group. Assists with deliveries to the Library and to Departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Requires knowledge acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of 3 months related experience in a comparable business, organization, or library.

Duties: Responsible for the cash collection of coin machines and cash boxes. Reconcile daily cash and make change for other departments as needed. Maintain Spreadsheet of District records and contracts. Match Purchase Orders to receipts and resolve invoice discrepancies. Maintain assets database. Assign purchase order numbers. Prepare Accounts Payable checks and invoices for mailing. Assist in coding and processing invoices in financial system. Maintain vendor information in financial database system. Compiles information and prepares documents for vendor report. Serve as backup for bi-weekly bank deposits. Serve as backup for package deliveries. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education: Requires expertise acquired through the completion of a High School diploma or equivalent with additional coursework in accounting or business.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years accounting or business experience in a comparable business, organization, or library.

Skills: Office & Library Proficient knowledge of standard office software including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Must have excellent data entry skills. Ability to perform detailed work with numerical and perform computations rapidly and accurately. Ability to work independently.

Duties: Inventory District building and office supplies bi-monthly. Checks in packages and other materials. Stock District supply orders. Follow-up with vendor on missing and damaged items. Monitor purchase order records and tag new assets into inventory. Monitor daily incoming mail and sort out invoices to be processed. Maintain daily program contract and meeting workshop payment files. Responsible for the filing of paid invoices, correspondence, contracts, etc. Maintain spreadsheet of
staff and Board membership dues. Manage and reconcile the daily credit authorization request and receipts. Serve as contact for vending machine reimbursements and issues. Compile support documents and Prepare 1099 forms for mailing. Dispense W-9 forms to new vendors. Monitor contracts to assure Certificate of Insurance is current. Assist in coding invoices as needed. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education: Requires expertise acquired through the completion of a High School diploma or equivalent.

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, is seeking a public service-oriented individual to coordinate the interlibrary loan function and assistant reference librarians in the Adult and Teen Services department.

Duties: Provides interlibrary loan service to library patrons and other libraries. Searches a variety of databases for requested material. Contacts library patrons for any interlibrary loan problems. Processes all interlibrary loan materials for checkout and return. Provides all adult and teen services to patrons in the library, on the telephone, through email, and other means of communication. Suggest purchases based on patron demand and availability in ILL databases. Provides general clerical support to ATSD staff. Develop and host programs. Plans and prepares materials for book displays and pathfinders. Assists patrons in the use of public access terminals, online services, Internet, eBooks and other equipment
available for use. Provides assistance in all service areas in the department as needed. Contribute and write to department blog. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Requires expertise acquired through completion of a LTA certification or Associate's degree.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year related experience in a comparable business, organization, or library required.

Skills: Office & Library Knowledge of personal computers and word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications. Knowledge of automated information retrieval systems including Polaris,
OCLC, Illinet and SILC databases.

Communication: Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
