Found it on Etsy: Happy Anniversary Merlot Butterfly Card

Passionate: A local woman has been making homemade cards since long before she had her driver's license.

Her favorite card-making materials are paper, rubber stamps, embossing powder, ink, glue, embossed paper, ribbon and glitter.

And the cards produced by a Bolingbrook woman truly shine. I found this one on Etsy: It’s a Happy Anniversary Merlot Butterfly Card that sells for $5.25.

“I love making cards and especially love making valentines,” says KRH store owner Kim in her Etsy profile. “I’ve been making homemade cards (since) well before I even had my driver’s license and many of my rubber stamps are that old … I haven’t been to a Hallmark in years.”

Kim describes her Merlot Butterfly Card like this:

“I’ve matted basic white cardstock with merlot paper and printed petal paper. The pearlized paper is embossed and raised with foam. I’ve die cut three butterflies using both cardstock and handmade paper and sprayed them with pearl spray. I’ve also glittered the bodies of the butterflies.”

She produces her cards in a “smoke-free and nearly pet-free home.”

“We have two gerbils in the basement who adore chewing up my paper ‘mistakes,’ ” Kim says.

She first opened her Etsy shop in January 2009.
