Thousands Line Up for Photo with Lord Stanley's Cup

The parking lot of the Bolingbrook Golf Club was filled with Chicago Blackhawks fans Thursday afternoon - more than 3,500 people - who wanted to take a photo with the Stanley Cup.

Residents from Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Joliet, Naperville and Crest Hill were among the first in a line that began forming at 4 a.m. Access to the Cup did not begin until noon.

One of the youngest in line was Annabel, a 4-week-old from Crest Hill whose parents placed her in the Cup to take their family photo.

In the end several people were turned away as Bolingbrook's time with the Cup came to an end. One Bolingbrook woman said her son, a die-hard Blackhawks fan, was pretty disappointed.

"I am so totally bummed for my kiddo ... He has stood in line since 11:00 to get his picture with Sir Stanley," the woman wrote on the Bolingbrook Patch Facebook wall. "He has now been told they're no longer doing photos. With all the police that were there they knew well in advance how many would be allowed and should have turned away the rest! He is such a Hawk's fan."

This is the second time the Cup has made a visit to the village of Bolingbrook. Back in 2010, about 3,000 people lined up.

"It's a crazy event," Bolingbrook Golf Club General Manager Randy Farber said.

Those who were able to have their photo taken with the cup paid $20 and all proceeds went to charity - specifically St. Baldrick's and to Heart Haven Outreach.
