Mac And Cheese Cookoff A Success in Bolingbrook

More than 170 attendees sampled 12 different macaroni and cheese dishes during the contest.

There was plenty of noodling around during the inaugural mac and cheese cookoff benefit last Sunday, sponsored by the Bolingbrook Rotary Club.

Held at  sports bar, 12 participants had their dishes tasted and voted on by more than 170 attendees.

“The event was a huge success and a lot of fun,” said Rotary member Kim Coyne. “We had a nice mix of ‘cheftestants’ from Rotary and the Bolingbrook community at-large.”

Tailgaters was the evening's main sponsor donating their time, preparing a full buffet to compliment the mac and cheese dishes and generous prizes.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the turnout and number of walk-ins we had,” Coyne said. “We had planned to serve 120 when we turned our numbers into Bob Zalewski at Tailgaters on Friday so 170-plus far exceeded our expectations for a first year event.”
