With the garage sale season coming to an end, Bolingbrook's Humane Haven Animal Shelter is holding its annual year-end blowout Saturday.
The sale, which is held in the Kohl's parking lot, runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all of the proceeds going to help the hundreds of unowned animals in the shelter.
Perhaps more unique, all of the items sold will be donated by local residents.
"100 percent of the proceeds go for the care of dogs and cats in the shelter," said Walt Marcis, a volunteer for the shelter. "It pays for hospital bills, food, cat litter, and medicine for the animals."
The sale is a sort of two-way street for garage sale enthusiasts.
Shoppers can donate old and unused items to the sale between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday and then shop for items they might like to purchase later on.
All donated items must be clean and in good, usable condition.
Any unsold items will be donated to another charity.
The garage sale is divided into separate sections to create a better shopping experience, which will allow the shopper to find exactly what they need without searching through everything.
Weather for the event should be idea. According to the National Weather Service, the forecast calls for sunny skies, with highs in the upper 60s.
