Mistwood's First Full Season After Renovation Starts April 25

Renovations were completed last year.

Mistwood Golf Club, 1700 Renwick Road in Romeoville, will begin its first full season following its three-year, multi-million-dollar renovation on April 25.

“This renovation was due to my love for the game and we are very excited to now be opening for a full season and sharing this wonderful new golf experience with Chicago area golfers,” owner Jim McWethy said in a statement issued Wednesday. “I could not be happier with how everything has come together and for now being recognized as one of the premier golf facilities in the Chicago area.”

Mistwood closed early in the golf seasons in 2011 and 2012, and opened late in 2013, to allow Michigan-based golf course architect Ray Hearn to complete the award-winning renovation. Work include improvements to every hole on the course, and included the addition of 20 stacked sod-wall bunkers — a trademark hazard seen more frequently in Scotland and Ireland than in the U.S.

The facility renovation also included the addition of the new Mistwood Performance Center, with its Irish-themed stone architecture and warm dark wood interior, along with 11 climate-controlled stations, two indoor heated bays for year-round practice, 32 outdoor stations, a custom club-fitting room, putting room and a repair and club-building center.

GOLF Magazine awarded Mistwood with its “Best U.S. Renovation You Can Play” listing for 2013 as part of the magazine’s annual Best New Courses report published in the January 2014 issue. Golf Digest architectural editor Ron Whitten also recognized Mistwood as one of 2013’s top remodeled courses on golfdigest.com.
