Popular Drag Racer to Visit Bass Pro Thursday

Tony Schumacher will appear tonight at Bolingbrook's Bass Pro Shops to promote Full Throttle Energy Drink. The event is 7 p.m to 8 p.m.

The Promenade's begins at 4 p.m. and runs through most of the evening. 

But after you stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, you'll want to speed across the shopping mall's campus to , where Top Fuel driver Tony Schumacher will be promoting Full Throttle Energy Drink.

According to the National Hot Rod Association, Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster for Don Schumacher Racing, will sign autographs and greet fans from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the popular outdoor store at 708 Janes Ave.

Schumacher is a seven-time world champion and will be competing in the 14th annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet this weekend.

“It’s cool to be able to do an appearance in my hometown, and even better that it’s at a Bass Pro Shops,” said Schumacher in the release. “I’ll probably come early and stay late, trying to get some shopping done.

“The fans will be getting autographs but I’ll probably be in line [at the same time] buying lots of hunting and fishing supplies.”

Free samples of Full Throttle Energy Drink will be distributed from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the release said, and fans will also have the opportunity to pick up giveaways and can check out an Army Top Fuel show car upon entrance to the store.
