What Should Replace the Old Wendy's?

In a new weekly series, Patch asks readers how they would fill empty storefronts around Lemont.

Last week, Lemont Patch readers for the empty Sears building on State Street as part of our new "Vision for Vacancies" series.

The ideas ranged from bold and creative to simple and straightforward. Some readers expressed interest in a new hardware or grocery store, while others said they hope to see a hangout spot for teens, like roller rink or budget movie theater.

This week, we're heading across the Sears parking lot to the former home of the Lemont Wendy's, located at 1150 State St. The building was built for a fast-food chain, but we want to know what you'd like to see fill the vacant space.

The village already has popular chain restaurants like McDonald's, Burger King and Taco Bell/KFC—would you like to see another? If so, which one? If you're thinking outside the box, we want to hear those ideas, too.

Share your ideas for the vacant Wendy's in the comments.

I totally agree, only PORTILLO"S. That would be awesome for Lemont. I know it would be great for alot of people, they wouldn't have to go to Boingbrook to get their italian beef sandwiches, It's also a kid friendly place! I hope this happens for Lemont!

Lemont needs to become more hipster....Think coffee shops.....Deli's that are vegetarian friendly...such as a Jason's deli.....used book store that also serves light fare......music store......we need to have places for the young to be able to socialize in a relaxing atmosphere.....

Maybe something that stays open longer than 930 p.m.- starbucks... Also, I'm trying to figure why Sweetwater Deli opens at 10:30 a,m,...instead of like 7-8....Crazy that Dunkin donuts can do it....has anyone ever seen the stream of cars going into that place on Archer/Derby in the a.m....?
