Save Bolingbrook's 911 Center! Contact Info & On-Line Petition

As a homeowner in Bolingbrook, I recently received a flyer and information stating that Bolingbrook was seeking to close down our 911 center and have our phone calls answered by some out-of-town agency that answers phones for almost 2 dozen other departments. I do not feel comfortable with someone in another town answering my call when either myself or another family member needs help.  I think all of us would rather have someone in our own town answering our calls and sending help when we need it, rather than someone who doesn't know us or our neighborhood, etc.  Just a few extra seconds if they're not familiar with where I'm at or where to send help or if they're busy handling all the other towns and calls can mean my house burning down or worse yet, the difference between life or death.  And only relying on computers or maps does not always work.  Computers go down or can have incorrect information.  I want someone from our own town and familiar with our town and its people.  I had to call 911 in Bolingbrook a few years ago when I thought someone was breaking into my house.  The dispatcher knew exactly where I was, was familiar with my subdivision and stayed on the line with me until help arrived.  I don't want someone in another town and not familiar with my neighborhood answering my call or someone who is responsible for answering a dozen other towns calls, do you???  Please help in passing this information on to your neighbors, friends and family and letting the mayor and trustees know to stop this.  I don't know the reasoning behind this, but even if its to save money in the budget, I don't think our safety is worth it.  Maybe a few less fountains and flowers in town, or cuts somewhere else until the economy improves would be a little smarter.  Here is the contact information off the flyer I received to voice your opinion to the mayor and trustees and also to sign an online petition.  Each of my family members has signed the petition-I hope you will too so we keep this important service in our town!
