Bolingbrook Home Needs Your Votes to Win Patch's Deck the House Contest

The Frohns could win $100,000 for Valley View schools.

Jack and Laura Frohn could be giving one heck of a late Christmas present to the this holiday season.

The couple is one of 24 finalists for Patch's nationwide Deck the House contest. If they win—and their success depends on the number of votes they get—the Valley View School District will be in line for a $100,000 prize!

Patch.com launched the nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in its Patch communities on Dec. 8.

Each finalist has already secured $500 that they can apply to their December electric bill.

The Grand Prize Winner will be determined by your votes, and the public schools in the winner's town will receive $100,000! So vote once a day, every day though Jan. 8 for your favorite entry. And be sure to spread the word around town so Bolingbrook students can have an awesome present waiting for them when the return to school in this year!

Note: To vote, you'll need to be a registered user of Patch or vote using your Facebook account.

on their home (1443 W. Briarcliff Rd.) that exceeds more than 45,000 light bulbs.

Well documented on television and in books even, the local attraction is well worth the trip during the holiday season. Visitors are welcomed by a glimmering light display that rivals that of a professional light display.

“We’ve been doing this since the 1990s,” Laura Frohn said. “It’s a labor of love for me and Jack; but in the past five years, our family and neighbors have pitched in to help. Our display just keeps growing each year … it’s a good time.”

The family's electric bill is often times in excess of $1,000 a month, they say.

"We do it because both of us have childhood memories of going out and looking at lights with our family,” Jack Frohn said. “Times are really tough right now for a lot of families and this is something we are able to do, sort of our Christmas present to everyone.”

That's just great. Thanks alot. How about a disclaimer saying you must be a registered Facebook user to be able to vote? Are you kidding me? I'm sorry, the house looks awesome and deserves to win, but now I have to practically sell my soul to Facebook to just be able to vote? What kind of scam is this? AHHH!!!! There should be "no registration necessary to win" oops, I mean "to vote". What's next? Huh? They'll need my social security number to vote in a fricken contest? Facebook is evil and I'll have no part in it. It truly is desperate times...pathetic. (hope there's some lawyers looking into this) BTW- congrats on the $500 bucks towards that crazy ComEd bill. Soon enough, the lovely SmartGrid will decide for you that you've used too much of your neighbors electricity and shut all the joy down in a blink of an eye. Enjoy it all while we can. Guess VVSD will have to find another way to get that $100,000.00. Sorry. TO VOTE, CLICK HERE (but...)

I'm with you! There is no way I would vote through facebook. Facebook is a data collection sponge. There is already too much information about us out there for all to see. I found a website that has my name, almost entire address, a picture of my house, my religion, political party, age (although they have me as being in my 70’s), a MAP OF WHERE I LIVE, a list of my relatives (and although not complete was a little too much.) They have my previous addresses. It is scary!!!! Go to this website and check out YOUR personal information posted there. There is a way to get the info off but it doesn’t mean that people cannot get to it. http://www.spokeo.com/ Info from Snopes.com on how to remove your info from their site: http://www.snopes.com/computer/internet/spokeo.asp
