Breaking into the comedy business, raising five children in a two-bedroom apartment and deep dish pizza were just a few of the topics comedian Jim Gaffigan discussed during a book tour stop in Naperville.
Several hundred people shared laughs with Gaffigan as he took to the stage at North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall Thursday night before the comedian and author signed copies of his new book "Dad is Fat."
During the event, Gaffigan also fielded questions from the audience and talked about how he develops his material and why he decided to get into comedy.
"I didn't come from a performance background or a family that knew the entertainment industry at all, and yeah, there was a lot of humiliation in the beginning," Gaffigan said. "But it was fun."
He said the idea for his book stemmed from the observations he's made while raising a family of five children.
"It's an interesting adventure being a parent," Gaffigan said. "I don't know what I'm doing."
The event was hosted by North Central College and Anderson's Bookshop.
