1. Bolingbrook will pay less for fireworks.

Last week, Bolingbrook Patch that would secure a professional fireworks display through 2013. The village will pay Melrose Pyrotechnics $31,000 this year, $29,000 in 2012 and $27,000 in 2013.

In previous years—the last three years to be exact—the village paid Designer Fireworks $38,000 for the fireworks show, said Bolingbrook Golf Club General Manager Mike Williams.

2. Win free golf for a year.

Golfers can enter to win a every time they play Boughton Ridge Golf Course this year.

Each round entered has a chance to win in a drawing. The winner will receive a free round of golf each week from April through October 2012. A cart is not included.

5. Meadowbrook Manor receiving a facelift. 

Meadowbrook Manor, a nursing and rehabilitation center in Bolingbrook, is undergoing extensive remodeling. The center will receive a complete makeover to residents’ rooms, common areas and nursing stations.

“All of the upgrades to the complex were designed specifically to make every resident feel as comfortable as possible,” said co-founder, Robert B. Jafari in a release. “We understand that the transition is hard for some residents and because of this we have designed the new elements to create an inviting, secure atmosphere reminiscent of their own homes.”
