P.U.: Stench of Marijuana Leads to Arrest of Bolingbrook Teen Reilly

Bolingbrook police seize 32 grams of cannabis following traffic stop on Wednesday night in the vicinity of Ashbury Avenue and Braircliff Road.

The smell gave him away.

A 17-year-old Bolingbrook teen was arrested by Bolingbrook police on charges of possession of cannabis and manufacturing/delivery of cannabis—both felonies—on Wednesday night in the vicinity of Ashbury Avenue and Briarcliff Road.

Gerald Christopher Reilly, 17, of 316 Appling, Bolingbrook, was stopped by Bolingbrook police after he was observed committing a traffic violation, according to Lt. Mike Rompa.

Reilly was driving a green 1997 Saturn at the time of the incident—9:45 p.m.—according to Rompa. When he was pulled over, his cover was blown out the window—quite literally.

“The officer detected a strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle as contact was made with the driver,” Rompa said. “Upon further investigation, a total of approximately 32 grams of cannabis was seized from Reilly, which was individually packaged into 20 separate bags.”

Rompa said Reilly was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He was awaiting a bond hearing on Thursday.
