Snowstorm to Pass Through Bolingbrook by Thursday

After Wednesday's mild weather, expect temperatures to plunge as the area sees moderate to heavy snow through Thursday.

After unseasonably mild weather this winter, Thursday's expected snow storm may come as a shock.

While Wednesday will continue to be mild and dry, an arctic front is expected to come through  on Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service

A possible rain-snow mix will transition to all snow by Thursday morning as temperatures fall through the 20s. Two inches to five inches of snow can be expected across northeastern Illinois.

Moderate to heavy snow and possible wind gusts of 30 mph will make for a hazardous Thursday morning commute, according to the NWS. Visibility may be reduced to a half-mile or less at times.

Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 27. North northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Occasional snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 27. Blustery, with a west northwest wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thursday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 14. Breezy, with a west wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. 

The Thursday evening commute will also be hazardous, and temperatures are expected to drop between 10 and 15 degrees Thursday night with wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph. That combination could produce wind chill values of 0 to 5 degrees. 

The NWS advises commuters to continue to check reports for Thursday's weather as the forecast is updated.
