Heavy weather ripped through northeast Illinois Monday morning.

A severe thunderstorm passed through Bolingbrook Monday morning, leaving more than 10,000 area residents without power more than 24 hours after the storm.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, ComEd was reporting 10,000+ customers in the Bolingbrook region without power. Included in that region is Bolingbrook, Darien, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, DuPage Township, La Grange, Lisle, Naperville, Woodridge and York Township. The largest scale ComEd uses is 10,000+.

According to ComEd's Twitter feed, restoration estimations should be available this afternoon.

"Because of the severity of the storm and the number of customers without power this could be a multiday scenario," Hernandez said of the time line for fully restoring service.
