An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old juvenile male—both from Bolingbrook—were caught in the act of attempting to burglarize a residence in the 600 block of Derbyshire on Tuesday morning, according to Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa.
Alexis Garcia-Galvez, 18, of 13 Fernwood Lane, Bolingbrook, was charged residential burglary—a felony—after police chased him and a male juvenile down as they attempted to flee the scene of the burglary, Rompa said.
He said Garcia-Galvez was caught him with a gold-colored watch—taken from the home—in his possession, subsequently was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He was awaiting a bond hearing on Wednesday.
The juvenile involved in the incident was charged with trespassing, Rompa said. He said Bolingbrook police received a 9-1-1 call from the homeowner at about 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 27). The caller said a male subject—identified as Garcia-Galvez—was repeatedly knocking on the front door of the residence and kept ringing the doorbell.
“(Garcia-Galvez) then went to the backyard and the (homeowner) lost sight of him,” Rompa said. “The (homeowner) believed (Garcia-Galvez) was inside the house, so the (homeowner) retreated to an upstairs bedroom and locked the door.
“The homeowner could hear (Garcia-Galvez) going through the home and property within it,” he said. “Officers arrived and located an open basement window. As they entered the home, they could hear an individual scrambling to exit the house.
“Officers engaged in two foot pursuits. Both offenders were taken into custody a short distance from the residence.”
