DRAMA GUILD STUDIO TO PRESENT NEIL SIMON’S “THE ODD COUPLE (FEMALE VERSION)”

Find out what's happening in Bolingbrookwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Neil Simon’s most famous creations return in surprising new form as the Drama Guild Studio presents “The Odd Couple (Female Version)” on March 7, 8, 15, and 16 at St. Joseph Academy, 51 W. Jackson, Joliet.

Performances are at 8 PM on Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8, and Saturday, March 15, and at 2 PM on Sunday, March 16.  They can be purchased at the door or online at https://secure3.ticketguys.com/dramaguildstudio.

Audiences are familiar with the original version of “The Odd Couple”, made famous on stage, film, and television, where two divorced men attempt to share the same apartment with disastrous results.  In this new version by Simon, the mismatched roommates are two women, and the differences in their personalities and personal habits lead to a hilarious war of nerves.

Rae H. Williams of Bolingbrook plays Olive Madison, a sloppy divorcée who takes in her fastidious friend, Florence Unger, played by Tina Matriciano of Palos Hills.  Florence shows up during the weekly Trivial Pursuit game, also attended by their friends Renee (Brenda Gilmore, Plainfield), Sylvie (Carrie Novotny-Lee, Joliet), Vera (Laurel Hays, Joliet), and Mickey (Clare Branson, Plainfield).  Also appearing are two brothers from Spain who are dinner dates for Olive and Florence:  Manolo Costazuela, played by Mike Manolakes of Bolingbrook, and his brother Jesus, played by Peter Koenig of Downers Grove.

Tom Matriciano, Palos Hills, is the director for the production.

Drama Guild Studio is the resident theatre company at St. Joseph Academy in Joliet.  Now in its third year, the Drama Guild Studio has previously presented productions of “Dead Certain”, “A Christmas Carol”, “Harvey”, and “The Mousetrap.”
