AKA MLK Day Clothing Drive

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Sigma Omega Chapter, through its philanthropic arm, Spirited Pearls Foundation, will host a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration and Clothing Drive.  This “day-on of service” honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and is a part of the sorority’s international program, “Global Leadership Through Timeless Service.”  The theme for this year’s event is “Everyone can be Great, because Everyone can Serve.”  The theme is inspired by the sorority’s mission to provide awareness, advocacy and action of human rights issues. Chi Sigma Omega Members and volunteers will collect clothing to help homeless families and people experiencing financial setbacks due to the economy.  Donations from this event will benefit local charities in the Chicago southwest suburbs.  Chi Sigma Omega’s goal is to encourage more people to become active in their community through this event.Chi Sigma Omega was chartered on December 5, 2004, in Bolingbrook, Illinois for the purpose of servicing communities in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.
