Southgate Park's very own 3 year old, Max Jimenez-Singh, has been bravely battling hepatoblastoma, a rare form of liver cancer, since January of this year. In an effort to come alongside the family and the unexpected costs of this journey, (and put a smile on Max's face!) we invite everyone on Saturday, May 19th to an extravaganza of events not to be missed!
First, you can "purge with a purpose" at this year's Southgate Park subdivision 2-day garage sale starting Friday, May 18th and Saturday May 19th from 9am-1pm by donating proceeds from your garage sale, donating items, hosting a kids' lemonade stand/bake sale, shopping or inviting others to. (The sky is the limit on the creative ways to make a difference with your spring cleaning!)
Then, from 1pm-5pm, get ready for a neighborhood bike parade that will open our Mighty Max Carnival!!! There will be bagpipes & drums (our neighbor, Jospeh Coakley and members of Chicago Caledonian Pipe & Dums) to start things off! We will begin at the park and head towards the festivities on Belvedere for food and fun all in honor of Max! Activities will include a climbing wall, train, fire trucks, jumpies, dunk tank, face painting, prize drawings and much more!!!
If you would like to volunteer at the carnival or donate items, feel free to contact one of the event coordinators below. Or if you would like to donate proceeds from your garage sale to Team Max, please post your address below and we will include you on our permit and advertising.
Looking forward to celebrating a very special and mighty boy!
*Any donations, drawings or proceeds from garage sales will be used to cover the unexpected costs associated with Max's treatment. In the event the Team Max fund ever exceeds the needs of the family, all remaining funds will be donated to St. Jude's Memorial Hospital. In addition, any leftover donated items from the garage sale will be donated to Goodwill.
